Reclaiming our natural resources is not only responsible, it is a very unique and stylish way to offer beauty and interest to your home design. Did you know that you can reclaim more than just Barn Wood? (Although who doesn’t love a good piece of barn wood!?)
Indonesian Teak, reclaimed from historical buildings that are being demolished to make way for modern construction options, is the passion of Island Timber and we are excited to be offering their products. Today, Indonesia is purposeful in making sure Teak is a renewable resource through plantations dedicated solely to the growth and replanting of the tree. Island Timber is going one step further and saving beautiful wood from destruction and turning it into works of art.
Teak has historically come from Indonesia and other parts of Asia. Previously used for the homes and buildings of the wealthier population, today we can bring it into our own designs through this wonderful product. Teak is a recognizable name in construction due to its high oil and rubber content, and has excellent resistance to decay, rot, and a low shrinkage ratio. This makes reclaiming the wood a very successful project.
There are 3 designs to choose from
Kayu Natural or Painted, is a meshed tile arrangement of reclaimed teak with a tapered look. Across a wall this look combines a modern design with the elegance of ancient Indonesian teak.
Papan Planks are available in natural or painted planks, this tile comes in varying lengths and tones to create a random design. More uniform than the Kayu tapered look, it still reflects the diverse variation of the woods finish and historical map.
Rimba is similar to Papan, however the planks also vary in width giving a more playful look to the design.
